By unexpected opportunity Ashley began her gymnastics training as a student, which helped her build not only fundamental flexibility and muscular strength of the body, but also will power. However, deep inside she felt uncertain about what she was doing, until she had her first yoga class in 1998. While yoga asanas may seem very similar to gymnastics, what she experienced in the class was entirely different. As she was guided to integrate breath and awareness into the practice, it took her into a state of satisfaction and equanimity that she had never experienced before. That was the day when Ashley began her journey of yoga.
In 2012 Ashley completed 200-hour Anusara yoga teacher training with instructor Nai Chin Tang, and has been teaching yoga since then. She is always able to get every single one of the students in her class to immerse fully into the practice, as her positive voice delivers detailed instructions with clarity, her affirmative look and unwavering tone encouraging all practitioners. Her unique charm and warmness have indeed become solid foundation of her teaching.
In 2015 Ashley had the chance to attend an advanced workshop taught by Iyengar Yoga instructor Peter Scott. She was deeply drawn to the precision and subtlety of alignment instructions that Peter introduced in class, and was then inspired to begin practicing Iyengar Yoga. After accomplishing the 100 pre-requisite hours of Iyengar Yoga training, she attended the Iyengar Yoga 300 TTC led by Peter Scott (2017-2019). Since then she has been practicing and teaching authentic Iyengar Yoga, and continues to deepen the practice. She is committed to keep learning with Peter Scott, hoping to introduce proper alignment of Iyengar Yoga to more practitioners while extending the practice off the mat and into our everyday life.
